Instructions For Attaching Your Hairpiece

Methods Recommended By Yahair

  1. The first time wearing the hair piece you will need about 12 inches of double adhesive tape .
  2. The second time wearing the hair piece you may use liquid latex adhesive which is fast and economical.
  3. You will need a pair of scissors for cutting the tape,
  4. Isopropyl Alcohol,
  5. Clearasil face wash, and of course normal shampoo and a wire hair brush.
  6. Tape and adhesive remover

Cut the tape into strips about 3 inches long. Cut to fit the contour of the transbase hair piece. Remove plastic tape backing from one side of the tape and press each piece onto the perimeter of the transbase. Pressing the tape until it has stuck in place. (DO NOT APPLY LIQUID ADHESIVE DIRECTLY TO THE SCALLOPED FRONT, BASE OR HAIR) Romove the plastic from the other side of the tape. Now place the hairpiece on the head position and press down. Brush and style you are finished.

Prep Your Head
Shampoo as usual and towel or blow dry your hair and scalp. Cleaning the scalp with clearasil face cleanser is recommended especially if you have oily skin. Just follow the direction on the container. After cleaning the scalp and drying you are ready to apply the hair piece to the head. Mark lightly with a pen the location and center on the forehead to position the Hair piece. Remove the outer layer of plastic from the double adhesive tape being careful not to let the hair over lap and stick to the tape. Spray the scalp with a mist of isopropyl alcohol just before appling the the hair piece to the head. This will delay the sticking proccess for about 30 seconds and allow you to position the hair piece in place. Press the perimeter of the hair piece where you applied the tape for a few seconds. Voila! You are ready to style and comb into place.

Removing The Hair Piece
After wearing the hair piece for several days or weeks depending on the type of tape you are using, the hair piece will begin to come loose and will peel off very easy. If there are places sticking pull back the hairpiece and add a little alcohol or adhesive remover and wait a few seconds and it desolves loose. If the hair piece is really stuck on the head you will need to saturated the area by appling the alcohol or adhesive remover up under the perimeter of the hair piece by pulling back the hair piece. Let it desolve for a few minutes. Pull off the hair piece and try not to pull the tape from the perimeter it can be reused by appling a liquid latex adhesive to the tape. Clean the hair piece and it is ready for use again.

Resusing the tape and appling a liquid adhesive.
Make sure the old tape is still firmly attached to the perimeter of the hair piece. If any tape is loose remove it and replace with a new piece of tape. Now brush the tape with the liquid adhesive. Being careful not to let the hair or the hairpiece base get into the adhesive. Place the hair piece on the head as you did with the tape. Press in place and take a blow dry on low heat and blow around the perimeter to dry the adhesive. After one minute of drying gently brush and style in place. You can repeat this process over and over until the tape finally let go. Extra strength method: Follow directions above and brush the liquid adhesive on the scalp where the perimenter of the base of the hair piece will match up. Spread the adhesive with the brush. Wait about 5 minuter and place the hair piece in place and dry as stated above.

[Make sure you let the adhesive dry before placing hairpiece on head, espeically if appling adhesive to lace or monofilament.]

Cleaning Instruction
Use a mild shampoo and rinse with warm water. Blow dry with low or no heat. Shampooing the hair piece on the head is fine. Conditioners are fine for the hair but can decrease the duration of the adhesives.
